Pál Göttinger / Dóra Halas / Soharóza Choir:
The acknowledged young theatre director Pál Göttinger and the Soharóza Choir led by Dóra Halas create an extraordinary performance for PLACCC Festival in a very unique place. The experimental choir goes underground in one of the most beautiful caves in the Buda hills. The audience embarks on a 'staged' walk amongst the astonishing stalagmites while listening to the choir sing. Soharóza Choir considers the voice the best medium to 'inhabit' space and communicate with other people. In turn the director Pál Göttinger - who himself has been singing for the past twenty years - regards the singers as full-fledged performers who on this occasion will transcend their own boundaries. They will move, improvise and transform space in order to explore the possibilities of choir music. Most members of the Soharóza Choir had participated in the critically acclaimed opera performance 'Cupid and Death' directed by Göttinger and have also worked with Viktor Bodó (Szputnyik) and Árpád Schilling (Krétakör), leading figures of the Hungarian independent theatre scene.
Premiere: 5 October (Mon) at 7 pm Location: Szemlő Hill Cave Important: Walking performance, comfortable shoes recommended. Cave temperature throughout the year is 12 Celsius and occassionally there is water dripping from the cave's ceiling. Warm and waterproof clothing also recommended. |
